The Red Bull F1 team annihilated its competition during the 2023 season on the back of the mighty RB19. The car operated in a league of its own and proved too hot to handle for the rival teams. With the 2024 F1 season just around the corner, former Haas driver, Romain Grosjean has made it known that Aston Martin’s 2024 car is an improved version of Red Bull’s RB19.

The Fernando Alonso-led team came up with a Red Bull-influenced car for the 2023 season. It was very much influenced by the Austrian outfit’s 2022 challenger and as per Grosjean, the AMR24 will be very similar to RB19.

However, he believes, that it would be slightly better than the RB19. While shedding light on the same on his YouTube channel, Grosjean said, as reported by Soymotor:

I think last year Aston Martin took a 2022 Red Bull and used much of the philosophy that was done in the 2022 Red Bull. And I feel like the 2024 Aston Martin is an improved 2023 Red Bull. I mean, I don't blame them. It was the fastest car last year.

The 37-year-old with his comments, has made it known that in his opinion, the AMR24 will be based on the philosophy of Red Bulls RB19. Moreover, he has also indicated that he does not blame the Silverstone-based team for following Red Bull’s philosophy as their car was the fastest last year.

Aston Martin are dark horses heading into 2024

While Romain Grosjean has made it known that Aston Martin’s AMR24 will be an improved version of the RB19, as per general belief, they are being tipped as dark horses this year. Several people believe that the AMR24 could have a real say in the world championship fight.

During the 2023 season, Aston Martin was the only team that was somewhat able to take the fight to Red Bull during the initial few rounds. While their challenge ran out of steam pretty quickly, Alonso and Co. would hope for a much better season this year.

Red Bull is looking pretty confident going into the 2024 F1 season and is at ease. However, things could get a bit tense within the Austrian team’s setup if the lights of Aston Martin prove quite competitive during the upcoming testing sessions.
