Sacked F1 driver Nyck de Vries attends the Grand Turismo premiere in Amsterdam

Nyck de Vries signed with AlphaTauri to race in F1 for 2023. The former Formula E world champion failed to meet expectations as he struggled against teammate Yuki Tsunoda. Subsequently, the 28-year-old was sacked in favor of Daniel Ricciardo just ten rounds into the season. Now, de Vries has made a public appearance in Amsterdam for an upcoming film.
The Dutch driver made a trip to the capital city of his home country to attend the premiere of Gran Turismo. Gran Turismo is a film based on the highly popular PlayStation game of the same name. Nyck de Vries was spotted on the red carpet as the 28-year-old took a break from racing after losing his seat in the middle of the 2023 season.
The Gran Turismo film is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough. Mardenborough became a professional racing driver who started as a player on the PlayStation game. The Briton won the GT Academy competition in 2011 after defeating over 90,000 entrants. Moreover, the sim racer was part of Nissan’s failed LMP1 campaign in 2015.

What’s next for Nyck de Vries?

The Dutch driver was sacked by AlphaTauri after a poor stint of performances in his rookie season. Consequently, the 28-year-old was rumored to return to racing in Formula E or even take a shot at Endurance racing. However, it seems that de Vries wants to return to learning with a course at Harvard University during his time away from racing.
Additionally, Nyck de Vries spoke to the media at the Gran Turismo premiere. The former F1 driver mentioned that he will take up a course on Negotiation and Leadership at Harvard next month. He said, “In September I will take a course at Harvard. Negotiation and Leadership, study a little more. More because I just like that now I have time to study and am interested in other things.”
Thus, Nyck de Vries is taking a break from racing after being ousted by AlphaTauri. The Dutch driver attended the Gran Turismo premiere. Certainly, de Vries remains a talented racing driver despite his failed attempt in Formula 1. Although, it appears that the 28-year-old is not ready to jump back into a racing car cockpit. As the former Formula E champion heads to Harvard.
