4-time Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel has taken his pick for a possible 2022 Formula One World Champion. The Aston Martin driver was asked to pick a driver who could possibly win the championship this season in a pre-race interview during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

“I think it will be Max. But I wish it will go on until the end, and I hope Charles will pip Max but rationally at this stage I think Max,” said Vettel to the interviewer. The interviewer made a reference to Sebastian Vettel’s quote: “Everyone’s a Ferrari fan”. This was made in reference to Vettel wishing that Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc takes the win eventually.

Sebastian Vettel discusses his F1 future

The strongest indication yet that Sebastian Vettel would leave Formula 1 came in the form of his admission that he must be “realistic” about his future. One of the most seasoned racers in the current generation, the four-time Formula One World Champion has invested a significant amount of time in the motorsport competing for victories and world titles. But that has not been the situation in recent years, and his supporters are more accustomed to seeing him contend for minor victories than advance to the front.

While the German driver must shoulder some of the blame, the truth is that a subpar Aston Martin car has chained his other arm behind his back. Despite being in his second season with the racing team, he is still to be handed a car that can fulfill his desire, except from a few races.

There were at least a few high spots in 2021. When he came in second at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, that was the big occasion in Baku. Later in the same season, in Hungary, Vettel believed he had scored another podium finish. However, he was disqualified because inspectors were unable to collect a sufficient sample of fuel from his car.
