A decade ago, a huge tragedy befell the world of motorsports. Michael Schumacher suffered a major blow to his head while skiing with his family, sending the German into a critical condition that he never properly recovered from. Schumacher has not been the same following his revival, with his brother providing a painful update on his state.

The legendary Schumacher touched hearts worldwide, attaining glory with Ferrari, amassing five titles out of his seven with the scarlet red team he called home. One young driver Schumacher inspired particularly was his compatriot Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel was mentored through his junior years by Schumacher and grew to look up to the septuple champion. Keeping contact with the 91-time race winner, Vettel was majorly affected by his accident. 10 years on, the four-time champion recalled his last conversation with his idol before the accident, telling Schumacher about the upcoming birth of his first child.

I told him that I was going to be a father and what awaited us. I just miss my friend. He would have been very important in recent years.

Michael Schumacher has been visited by his close friend and former team principal Jean Todt. The French former FIA executive gave an update on the former Ferrari driver’s health, regretfully without optimistic news about a full recovery for Schumacher.

Michael Schumacher was given a taste of racing experience to stimulate his brain

Michael Schumacher suffered a head injury 10 years ago that cost him mobility, responsiveness, and receptibility. The German’s recovery, with bills reportedly exceeding $20 million, has been slow, beginning with awaking from his long coma.

To help stimulate his brain and speed up his recovery, Schumacher was given a taste of racing, said German newspaper BILD. Schumacher was reportedly driven in a Mercedes AMG car to help him recall what it felt like to experience such speeds.

Schumacher also played sounds from his Formula One days, with hopes that the familiar sounds from his prime would help the recovery of his brain. Schumacher, currently residing in Switzerland, is receiving around-the-clock care, with numerous doctors attending to him.

The 54-year-old has been kept private from the public by his family, who wish to retain his legendary image in the eyes of his fans. Only a few select members of his close circle of acquaintances and friends are permitted to visit him, among them Jean Todt.
