After retiring from Formula One at the end of last season, Sebastian Vettel has been highly involved in the sport from the sidelines. As he continuously advocates sustainability in racing, Vettel has also been seen in the Red Bull paddock on various occasions.

Fueling the Vettel fans’ desires, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko had hinted that the German might return to F1. Marko claimed that Vettel does not feel completely settled in retirement and is still in between deciding things. He said that Vettel’s run in F1 might still not be over while simultaneously asserting that Red Bull does not have the space for him at the moment.

However, Sebastian Vettel recently responded to these claims, saying that it is highly unlikely for him to return to the sport.“I don’t know yet. Let’s see what ends up being a project. But so far I’m doing very well with my decision to retire. I do miss the competition and the excitement the most,” said Vettel, as per Mirror.

If Vettel does decide to return to F1, it is highly unlikely that he would go to Red Bull, the team with which he had his most successful run of four consecutive Championship victories. The team’s operations currently revolve around Max Verstappen.

The change in the scenario was one of the major contributing factors playing a role in Sebastian Vettel’s retirement. The four-time champion believes that F1 can do a lot more to make the races more sustainable, but is not reinvesting the profits adequately.

Vettel has been seen in many Grands Prix this season, promoting the need for sustainable racing. He recently claimed that he will be in attendance for the Japanese Grand Prix as well, and has something “bigger” planned for it. While Vettel did not reveal a lot of details, he did label his plan as the first step in the bigger picture.

“We have something bigger planned in Japan. This is a first step to reach out a bit. I am very excited. It takes place as part of the Formula 1 race. It’s not ready yet, it’s still a bit early. The basic tone is clear: the fight against the climate crisis and drawing attention to it,” said Vettel.
