“Second and fourth is no disaster,” Gerhard Berger reckons Ferrari was overcriticized after that howler in Monaco

Gerhard Berger and the Ferrari Duo

Gerhard Berger supports Ferrari and praised Mattia Binotto for the championship they have managed to build after the new regulations. He also asked people to keep the Monaco mistake aside, that caused Charles Leclerc and Ferrari a well-deserved victory.
He mentioned the criticism the team has lately got and asked to stop that considering the achievement the Italian Horse managed after a struggle in the last 2 years.

Gerhard Berger, a 62 old year former Formula 1 driver from Austria, has been a part of the Ferrari for six seasons in two spells. He has managed to finish third in the championship twice in his career, both for the Italian team. The 62 old has managed to get ten Grands Prix victories and achieved 48 podiums, 12 poles and 21 fastest laps.

He backed the team from criticism, “Ferrari are being criticised too much for the tactical mistakes last Sunday,” the Austrian told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We should really congratulate Mattia Binotto for the strong car he has managed to put on the track because we hadn’t expected that just a few months ago.” he continued.

Carlos Sainz managed a second-place finish behind Sergio Perez. He almost caught the Red Bull ahead of him but due to lack of overtaking opportunities in the streets of Monte Carlo finished behind him. The Spaniard went through a lot of costly mistakes and bad luck since the start of the season, he has already got 2 DNFs, continuously in Australia and Imola. Throughout all of it, the 27-year-old has backed 4 podiums.

Berger thinks the quality racing he got in Monaco will definitely boost his morale and help him in the races ahead. “After seven rounds, Sainz is still dreaming of the World Championship and rightly so – he is not far from the top, don’t discount him,” he continued praising the team for the result in Monaco, “Overall, Ferrari have recovered and in Monaco had the better car. Second and fourth is no disaster.”

The Red Team is second in the Constructor Championship with 199 points, and Charles Leclerc is second behind Max Verstappen with 9 points to gain.
