Sergio Perez has struggled to match Max Verstappen this season. The Mexican driver has felt the pressure in the last few rounds of the season after failing to qualify in the Top 10 for the past six races. Daniel Ricciardo‘s return to AlphaTauri has led to speculation about Checo being replaced by the Australian in 2025. Now, Perez has finally spoken up on such rumors.
The 33-year-old mentioned that he has raced in F1 for over a decade and does not care about speculation about such a distant future. Moreover, Perez revealed that he had not had the time to even look at Ricciardo’s return to the grid. Although, Checo was happy to have him back in F1. He told the media in Hungary, “I’ve been in F1 for 13 years so I’m not a guy who thinks so much further ahead, I’ve been with the engineers, I don’t even have the time to discuss what’s going on with Daniel.”
Sergio Perez reinstated that he was simply focused on the upcoming races before the summer break. The Mexican driver claimed it was not sensible even to consider such speculation about his drive in 2025. He explained, “I’m focusing on Hungary and then Belgium and not really thinking about 2025, you know? It’s such a far world ahead, it’s nonsense to think that far away.”

Sergio Perez needs to bounce back after a string of disappointing results
Perez has failed to perform in the last few races this season. The Mexican driver trails behind Verstappen by 99 points after just ten races. This exposes the poor results of the 33-year-old in what is the fastest car by a significant margin this year. So far, Red Bull has not given an ultimatum to Sergio Perez, but things might change if Daniel Ricciardo excels at AlphaTauri.
Checo has managed to recover from poor Qualifying results so far. This has been met by positive reception from Red Bull Consultant Helmut Marko. Although, the Mexican driver must improve his one-lap pace as soon as possible to prove his talent to the Milton Keynes-based team. It would be interesting to see how Perez performs before the summer break.
Thus, Sergio Perez has made it clear that he remains unbothered by rumors that indicate that he could lose his drive to Daniel Ricciardo in 2025. The 33-year-old is currently focused on improving his results after multiple poor performances. Although, it remains to be seen if Perez can do enough to secure his place at Red Bull for the long term.
