The Red Bull Formula 1 team saw their dominance get snapped at the hands of Carlos Sainz last night. Max Verstappen’s winning streak came to a bitter end, but despite the troubles, Sergio Perez has claimed that what Verstappen has done this year is simply magical, and for that, he has a lot of admiration.

Max Verstappen has been in a rich vain of form during the 2023 F1 season and has already amassed 12 race victories. The campaign still has quite a few events remaining on the calendar, and amidst the Dutchman’s Singapore GP disappointment, Sergio Perez has shared some immensely kind words about him.

While talking in detail about what it is like for him to be Verstappen’s teammate, he told Channel 4, “It is tough, you know, because the guy is like a machine. He delivers practice after practice through the weekend and doesn’t make mistakes. He’s driving at a very high level, and we have to respect that.”

And I have an admiration for what he’s currently doing and making, but at the same time, it’s a great challenge to have.” Looking at the comments of Perez, it is quite clear that he has left no stone unturned in appreciating the job Max Verstappen has done for the Milton-Keynes-based team this year.

Sergio Perez had an outing to forget at the Singapore GP

While Max Verstappen was able to end his Singapore GP exploits in a decent P5 finish despite all his problems, Sergio Perez, on the other hand, had a terrible outing in comparison to his and Red Bull’s standards. After starting the race from outside the Top 10, he could only manage a P8 finish.

The Mexican driver tried his absolute best to gain as many positions as possible, but at the tight and twisty Marina Bay Street Circuit, he could not get to grips with his RB19. He found it extremely difficult to overtake rival cars and, in the end, had no option but to settle for only four points.

The 2023 F1 season is now 16 rounds down and has the Japanese Grand Prix right around the corner. Sergio Perez had a solid outing with a second-place finish in Suzuka last year. Considering this, he would look to replicate or better his result when the F1 extravaganza reaches Japan this Friday.
