The Las Vegas GP’s preparation has been going on for the drivers for the past two weeks. Multiple people have highlighted challenges at the Las Vegas GP despite the drivers’ relief to race in a normal race weekend again. Sergio Perez also elaborates on the issues the Red Bulls could face on the Nevadan circuit.
The Street circuit is included in the Formula 1 calendar after almost 40 years, and the track conditions are unknown by the drivers. Since the circuit is new, drivers have to spend extended amounts of time on the simulator to familiarize themselves with the track. Furthermore, reports indicate that the race has a track temperature of a stupefying 4 degrees Celsius in the area.
Sergio Perez explains the conditions and the problems that the Red Bulls might face in the Las Vegas GP. The Mexican added that the track conditions would most likely not favor the Milton-Keynes outfit, and it was something that they [the drivers] needed to keep in mind.
I think it’s going be something that will gonna be very present there, That will not be something that favors us as a team, but it’s something that we got to keep in mind.
Perez said, as reported by racingnews365.com.
Additionally, the 33-year-old also raised issues over the uncertainty in the wind directions on the track. Perez claimed that predicting these things was difficult and subsequently added that there was a lot that the simulators could do to help simulate the race experience.
Those things are very hard to simulate, also knowing which sort of wind direction we're going to have. Simulators, these days, there is so much they can do and so much you can base on them. But I think it's more the knowledge we will have on that sort of things.
Sergio Perez expects a lot of support in Las Vegas
The Mexican driver faced an unfortunate early-race retirement in his home GP at the Mexican GP. Following that result, Perez finished an impressive P4 at the Brazilian GP. Hence, the Mexican has raised unsurety over the support at the Las Vegas.
Perez claimed that after the Mexican weekend, fans might not be too eager to see him race around the Nevadan circuit. Regardless, the Mexican reassured his faith in his driving skills and finally added that there’s still a lot out there to achieve and talked about expecting a lot of support at the Las Vegas GP.
There’s just two more races remaining in the calendar. Sergio Perez now has an extended lead over the subsequent driver, Lewis Hamilton, and is minimizing the chances of being overtaken in the championship standings after every race weekend.
