Sergio Perez fell short of expectations at Zandvoort last Sunday in the Netherlands, his teammate Max Verstappen‘s home state. He secured a fourth-place finish just beyond the podium’s grasp due to a time penalty, leading Pierre Gasly to claim his first podium finish of the season. As the racing spectacle shifts to the legendary Monza track for the Italian Grand Prix, Perez is determined to bounce back and secure a spot on the podium. He wants to showcase his unwavering commitment to achieving success in the upcoming race.

Perez entered the pit lane at Zandvoort with excessive speed, resulting in a time penalty that ultimately deprived him of a podium finish. Reflecting on the race, he expressed his frustration, The Mexican pointed out that he has shifted all the attention and determination toward the upcoming Italian GP. He has the objective of achieving the podium position that slipped away from him the previous weekend.

‘’Zandvoort was incredibly frustrating for me as a race, so my focus now shifts to Monza, where the goal is to secure the podium that eluded us last weekend.…. The time penalty was an unfortunate outcome,….. In racing, you can’t exert control over every single factor,” Perez said, as reported by GPBlong.com.

This weekend in Italy I will be looking to control the things I can and have a successful qualifying and race….. I feel in a good place with the car, it feels balanced and quick, we have built something really special and I want to show it’s true pace all weekend,” Perez added.

Christian Horner has declared that  Sergio Perez will stay with Red Bull next season

This season, Perez remains the sole driver aside from Max Verstappen to achieve a grand prix win, but his performance decline has subjected him to significant scrutiny. Several drivers are eager to take control of the top car on the grid. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner clarifies Sergio Perez’s situation for the upcoming year by stating that “Checo’s situation for next year is clear.”

He further explains an existing agreement between the team and Perez. Regardless of the contractual arrangement, the team complies with Perez’s performance.  Horner said, “He’s a Red Bull Racing driver, we have an agreement with him. Irrelevant of agreements, we’re pleased with the job that he’s doing. He’s second in the world championship.… He(Perez) will be our driver in 2024.”
