Sergio Perez has had a woeful 2023 F1 season. The 34-year-old has been far off the pace compared to teammate Max Verstappen throughout the year. Verstappen has dominated the sport with the fastest car on the grid. While Checo has failed to make the most of the RB-19. Now, Perez has listed the demands that would allow him to perform next season.

The Mexican driver specified that for a good season in 2024, he would want a more consistent car from Red Bull. The 34-year-old highlighted that the RB-19 had changed significantly with upgrades over the course of the season. Sergio Perez told Sky Sports, “I think a more consistent base throughout the season and having a car that doesn’t change so much throughout the year.”

Sergio Perez insisted that the change in the car’s behavior played a major role in performance. The 34-year-old had bagged two wins in the early stages of the season but fell off as RB-19 got new upgrades from Milton Keynes. Checo was convinced that the updates made him less comfortable with the machinery. He said, “That also contributes to being more consistent – I think that will be the key because that was what happened in the first few races.”

Sergio Perez hopes 2024 to be a different story

The 34-year-old had one of the most disappointing seasons in his career this season. Sergio Perez is miles behind teammate Max Verstappen in the standings despite having the most dominant car on the grid. The Mexican driver pointed out that he had suffered a difficult time with the car as he tried to adapt and make compromises over the course of the season.

However, Perez was reluctant to go into the details. The 34-year-old insisted that Red Bull was aware of this issue. The Milton Keynes-based team will try and address this massive problem that has hampered Checo’s entire 2023 season. The Mexican driver concluded, “It’s something we are all aware of and hopefully next year it can be a different story.”

Sergio Perez remains optimistic about his prospects for next season. However, the 34-year-old continues to face the challenge of performing in the ending stages of the season. Checo would be aiming to get the most out of the last few rounds of the year in a bid to go into the winter break with confidence. Although it remains to be seen how Perez will perform in the coming weeks.
