Sergio Perez, the Red Bull F1 driver, did not have the best of campaigns last year. He was pretty much outclassed by his prolific teammate, Max Verstappen, but ahead of the upcoming season, he has admitted that certain learnings are going to help him immensely in putting forward a strong show this year.
During the 2023 F1 season, Sergio Perez was only able to amass a mediocre total of 285 points in comparison to Verstappen’s 575. The former struggled throughout the campaign and for this reason, was criticized heavily on certain occasions.
However, with the 2024 F1 season just around the corner, Perez is staying in a positive mindset, and while talking about how last year’s experience will help him, he said, as reported by Auto Hebdo:
I want to be able to achieve regularity, to build momentum. We started the year very high, tied with Max, but we were not able to progress throughout the season. The problems we had gave me a better understanding of what I was doing with the settings, how I was setting the car up, and what direction I should go when I had problems. So this is something that will definitely make us stronger.
Looking at the reaction of the 34-year-old, it is quite evident that the painful learnings of 2023 have given him a clearer picture heading into 2024. Moreover, he has also indicated that he now has a better understanding of the car setups at Red Bull which will help him in producing solid results.
Sergio Perez’s Red Bull contract is set to expire at the end of 2024
While Sergio Perez has oozed immense optimism ahead of the 2024 F1 season, it will be in his best interest to produce a solid campaign. His current deal with the Milton-Keynes-based team is set to come to a close at the end of this year.
Keeping this in view, it is going to be of utmost importance for Perez, to produce consistent drives during the upcoming campaign. No one at Red Bull expects the Mexican driver to beat Max Verstappen, all they want from him is to keep putting in performances around the Dutchman’s level.
Closing the year with more than 1400 people who make all this possible.

If Sergio Perez can do so during the 2024 season, then there would be no reason for Christian Horner and Co. to not renew his Red Bull contract. As things stand, he is the one who is holding all the cards regarding his future in F1.
