The Red Bull Formula 1 team has operated on a whole other level under the new regulations. The outfit has bashed its rivals quite comfortably, with Max Verstappen leading the team’s charge from the front. While Red Bull’s other driver, Sergio Perez, has had his issues, he has recently taken the time to put his horrendous form in the back seat and talk about the Austrian team’s F1 success.

Sergio Perez joined Red Bull ahead of the 2021 season and played a pivotal role in helping Max Verstappen secure his first-ever F1 world championship. Since then, Perez has had an up-and-down run with Red Bull, but despite this fact, the Austrian team has performed well, and their recent 2023 Constructors and Driver’s triumph is a prime example.

While shedding light on the same and the key aspect that has allowed Red Bull to amass massive glory in recent years, Perez said, as reported by Sports Illustrated, “I think the team is working well, and that when something is working, you don’t need to change anything. That’s one of the things that makes this team so successful. Red Bull really goes into a lot of detail.

He added, “They are very strong in most departments: tires, suspension, aerodynamics. That combination with the engine makes it very, very solid, and there are always things that we keep improving. Even if we win a race, there are so many things that we could do better. That’s what makes Red Bull very special.”

Sergio Perez needs to up his game massively to save his 2024 Red Bull drive

While Sergio Perez has deemed Red Bull’s consistency as the main reason behind the team’s F1 success, he, on his part, has not been able to live up to Red Bull’s expectations during the ongoing F1 campaign. He has struggled massively behind the wheel of the mighty RB19 and has, thus, come under immense criticism from all angles.

To put things into perspective, Perez has so far managed only 224 points in the Drivers Championship in comparison to the massive 433 that has been put on board by his 26-year-old F1 teammate. Moreover, the former has only managed two Grand Prix wins this year, whereas Verstappen has amassed a brilliant fourteen wins.

Considering everything that has been discussed above and the rumors that have surrounded him in recent times, it is high time for Sergio Perez to get his act together at Red Bull. If he does not manage to secure P2 in the standings at the end of 2023, there is a real chance he will be shown the exit door ahead of next year’s campaign.
