The 2023 Mexican Grand Prix weekend is well underway, with the FP1 and FP2 sessions done and dusted. While home hero Sergio Perez was pampered with massive support on Friday, he has addressed the rumors that have claimed that there is an intense rivalry between him and Max Verstappen at Red Bull.

As per Sergio Perez, all the rumors are downright fake and have urged the fans not to pay much attention to them. Moreover, he believes that during the ongoing weekend, his teammate will not receive the kind of hostility he had to go through during last week’s United States Grand Prix.

The Mexican fans love Max. He won a lot in Mexico, and they always supported him and the team. The media always tries to create some kind of rivalry, and I don’t think that’s right. The Mexican fans are very passionate; they just want to support all the drivers and have a good time. In terms of atmosphere, I think this is the best Grand Prix of the season.

Perez told Viaplay.

Looking at the reactions of the 33-year-old, he has made it quite clear that there is no bad blood between him and Max Verstappen at Red Bull and feels the media should not be spending their time creating fake scenarios.

Sergio Perez wants to win the Mexican GP in front of home support

While Sergio Perez has made it known that everything is good at Red Bull between him and the 3-time world champion, Max Verstappen, the former is desperate to secure the Mexican Grand Prix in front of home fans. Perez feels that the ongoing weekend is his time to score his third victory of the 2023 F1 season.

The ongoing campaign has been easily dominated by Verstappen, who has proved just too mighty for all his rivals in the RB19. While Perez has also got the same weaponry underneath him, he just has not been able to match his teammate in terms of delivering potent performances on the track.

During Friday’s FP1 and FP2 sessions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, Sergio Perez was once again off the pace of his teammate, and considering this, it is going to be fascinating to see whether he would be able to put up a fight against Verstappen on the coming Sunday.
