“Smallest detail can make the difference,” Ferrari’s racing director skeptical of Red Bull’s “tough challenge”

Ferrari after yesterday’s Qualifying has managed to secure pole position with their star driver Charles Leclerc but the Prancing Horse’s racing director Laurent Meikies has warned his team not to get complacent and give the lights of Red Bull a chance to pounce during the Grand Prix.
Ferrari and Red Bull have been the best two teams during the current season and by now it has become very evident that the race for the Championship is a two-horse race. Laurent Meikies is very much aware of this fact and thus wants his team to give their maximum during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Including yesterday Ferrari has now got six poles to its name during the current season but their strong Qualifying performances so far have not really turned fruitful on race weekends. Red Bull has got a serious pace when it comes to race weekends and this has somewhat slowed down Ferrari’s early 2022 momentum.
while talking about the predicament Meikies said, “We expect Red Bull to possibly be a little bit stronger in the race. It will probably be very close, as it has been in almost all conditions this year,” said the 45-year-old Italian. The F1-75 is faster than Red Bull in the slower sections of the circuit this weekend, as has actually been the case all year. On the straights, however, caution is called for.”

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has got two targets on his back
Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen after 7 rounds are almost neck and neck in the Drivers Championship as Leclerc is just 9 points behind the leader Verstappen.
Meikies has pointed to the fact that when it comes to race sims Red Bull is quicker and has said, “We know that, in race trim, our closest rivals are quicker than in qualifying and maybe they have the edge over us when it comes to straight-line speed,” the top executive spoke words to the same effect in his employer’s press release. “I think the smallest detail can make the difference in the race, with many factors coming into play. The first of these is tyre management and as we can expect very hot conditions, race pace will be key.”
The two Red Bulls of Perez and Verstappen are starting just behind Leclerc in today’s race and given what the Maranello-based team’s race director has said about the Ferrari-Red Bull battle, it is going to be interesting to see what kind of strategy the Ferrari outfit is going to deploy during the race.
