Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 World Champion, has taken the pinnacle of motor racing by storm in the last two years. No one has been able to stand up against his might, and F1 President, Stefano Domenicali, has praised the Dutchman for his exploits and revealed that he is what the sport needs.

Since 2021, Max Verstappen has won the World Championship on a consecutive basis and is looking to all set to clinch his third at the end of the ongoing campaign. He has rapidly become one of the best, if not the best, drivers on the current F1 grid and has amassed a lot of appreciation for his exploits behind the wheel of a Red Bull car.

The 25-year-old’s manager, Raymond Vermeulen, was recently asked if the former saved F1, and while shedding light on the same, he told Formule1.nl, “I think ‘saved’ is a big word… Formula 1 would have existed without Max. I think Max is one of the trendsetters in this field; Formula 1 itself says that too. When I speak to Stefano [Domenicali], he also says: ‘What Max does is what the sport needed.”

Looking at the comments of Vermeulen, it is quite safe to say that Stefano Domenicali is very pleased to have a driver of Max Verstappen’s caliber at the pinnacle of motor racing. Moreover, what would please him the most is the fact that the former 2-time World Champion is still relatively young and has got several years to give in the sport.

Max Verstappen was in for a real battle during the 2021 season, where the title fight went down to the last race of the campaign, but since the dawn of the new regulations last year, no one has been able to put a Formula 1 car through the wringer like Verstappen has been able to do. He has operated in a class of his own.

His teammate, Sergio Perez, has also got the same machinery underneath him. Still, despite this fact, the Mexican hasn’t been able to put in the kind of performances that Verstappen has managed regularly. As per the F1 pundits, what sets him apart from the rest of the grid is his consistency in getting the best out of the car on every occasion.

When it comes to the ongoing campaign, Max Verstappen steamrolled his competition during the first leg and is comfortably leading the Drivers Championship. Considering his exploits in the first leg, the upcoming race at Zandvoort is going to be fully packed with Verstappen fans painting the circuit orange.
