Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 World Champion, has been on a warpath during the 2023 F1 season and has mercilessly bashed his competitors. He is operating on a whole other level this year and amidst his ever-growing dominance, F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali has admitted that the Dutchman should be applauded for his efforts and ardently believes, that it does not have a negative impact on the sport.
Max Verstappen has so far managed to win 10 races of the first 12 that have taken place so far, moreover, he is in total command of the Drivers Championship with over 300 points to his name. Such dominance has led a section of the fans to deem the ongoing campaign boring, but Stefano Domeicali does not agree with it.
While talking about the same ahead of the Dutch GP, he told RaceFans, “I would say, first of all, I think it’s the right moment to celebrate the incredible job that Verstappen is doing in that car. Because if you see the other car and where the others are in terms of gap it’s just incredible how Max is doing an incredible job. That has been always part of F1 and I would say that this is part of the game.”
“I’m pretty sure that in the next couple of years, the technical gaps will be reduced. But if someone is great, we need to celebrate what they’re doing. And sometimes I have to say there is also the need to confirm the legacy of somebody who is doing some spectacular stuff. So there’s nothing negative in that respect. And if you look back, I would say this has been always part of F1 history.”
