There are reports about a possible London Grand Prix. The attempt to bring Formula 1 to the English capital city was revealed by planners who were in touch with Formula 1. As per the proposal, the first race could be held as early as 2026. People have already been working on the redevelopment of London’s Royal Docks. The consultants have put forward the plans for a 3.6-mile Montreal-style circuit layout for the debut race.

The reports claim that the London Grand Prix might be held in the Royal Docks and the ExCel Centre. It is the current circuit for Formula E’s London EP race. Stefano Domenicali welcomed the idea of a Formula 1 GP in London but has revealed that there have not been any talks with the promoters so far. However, the enthusiasts already made models of what a London Grand Prix would look like.

Formula One CEO confessed it would be great to host a race in London. He told Sky Sports, “I think that London maybe has other priorities to tackle but, of course, that would be a great project. We are ready to discuss it because London is where we have the offices, so it would be not bad – easy commuting.” Domenicali is constantly looking to make the sport more exciting for the fans. A GP in the capital might just be the thing F1 needs.

One of the main reasons F1 has not raced in London yet is the unrealistic idea of closing busy streets and overcrowding the old layout. However, there is a chance for F1 to host a London race in addition to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. F1 has a contract with Silverstone till 2024, and they will most likely extend it. F1 attracts a broader audience, and they want racing to occur in easily accessible countries.

Due to a wider audience, there is a growing interest in hosting more races outside Europe. Formula 1 holds three races in the U.S. this season. The Las Vegas Grand Prix is the third American race after Austin and Miami Grand Prix. Other countries are interested in hosting F1 races, Jamie Pumarejo, the mayor of Barranquilla, Colombia, expressed his desire to host a Caribbean Grand Prix.

The city of Madrid also expressed an interest in hosting F1 though Spain already hosts a race in Barcelona. The sport is in demand. While some fans enjoy watching the cars battle on historic circuits, some look forward to the flashy backdrop of the Las Vegas strip. There was a time when Formula 1 feared for its future, but now most countries want to host a race due to its increasing popularity.
