“That’s clown shit,” Tifosi left furious after Carlos Sainz’s race is ruined after Ferrari pit stop blunder
Carlos Sainz
It’s happened again: Ferrari have compromised their driver’s race from a faulty pitstop. On lap 15, Carlos Sainz came into the pit, but it seems that the Ferrari mechanics were not ready for the pitstop, and that piled onto the pain of this season for Ferrari fans.
As a result, Carlos Sainz likely lost at least 10 seconds, which completely derailed his race. The Spaniard had been running in 3rd, narrowly keeping Lewis Hamilton behind him, but all that work has come undone.
Moreover, Sergio Perez had pitted right behind Sainz. While Ferrari were occupied with whatever tyre debacle they were in, the Mexican driver came out onto the pitlane after changing his tyres, he ran his tyre over a stray wheel gun. That may signal a potential penalty coming Ferrari’s way.

Carlos Sainz narrowly avoided a crash at the start
Carlos Sainz’s race may have been derailed at the start itself. As the drivers got off the line, Max Verstappen move to the inside to cover Charles Leclerc off, and Carlos Sainz had to be very cautious on the brakes to not collide with his teammate. This put him into the jaws of Lewis Hamilton, who tried to overtake him down the inside, but the two narrowly touched.
Safe to say, it hasn’t been an easy race for the Spaniard. First the contact at the start, and he doesn’t seem to have anywhere near the pace of Charles Leclerc either. This isn’t the first time Ferrari has made an error on the pitstop, even though Monaco was quite a bit different from the complete disaster here in Zandvoort.
Ferrari fans have already had a lot of pain this season, and this just seems to be the icing on the cake. They’re understandably angry and are demanding answers.
Moreover, Sergio Perez had the fastest stop of the season and comparing that to Sainz’s own dismal stop, you can see why the fans aren’t happy with the team.
It has been through these errors (in addition to reliability problems) that the championship has run away from Ferrari. They have had the best or the second-best car on most weekends, but are more than 100 points behind Red Bull, mostly through their own missteps than as an indication of Red Bull’s pace advantage.
