“The brakes are on fire, we have no engines”: Ferrari’s reliability issues continue to haunt them both on and off the track
The 2022 F1 season had started off well for Ferrari but has slowly turned into a disastrous one. The first and foremost reason for their disasters has been their reliability issues during their races, that have caused them to lose several crucial points in contention for the championship.
However, it seems like their issues seem to be haunting them both on and off track. Ferrari’s transport lorry carrying the engines to Monza caught fire due to overheating brakes delaying the transport. The team’s string of bad luck doesn’t seem to be limited on track, and with this delay in the delivery of engines it could spell more bad luck in the Italian Grand Prix.
Ferrari started off this season well and they looked like strong contenders for winning the championship, but as the season progressed these hopes have started diminishing. The reliability issues mixed with the blundered strategy calls have created a recipe of disaster for the team.
Their lead driver Charles Leclerc who was looking like a strong contender for the drivers championship is now 109 points behind the leader Max Verstappen. Unless Ferrari are able to bring in considerable improvement by the next race, they will end up losing the championship completely.
Will Ferrari secure a victory at Monza?
The upcoming race is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza which is the home race for Ferrari. With their recent loss at Zandvoort, the team hopes for a victory at Monza as it would not only lift up their spirits but give them some much needed points to keep them in contention for the championship.
The fans are looking forward to the race as it is going to be an exciting one with Ferrari bringing in changes that will bridge the gap in pace between them and Red-Bull.
Ferrari need to make sure they don’t make any major strategy errors during the race, that could in turn cost them the win and the championship this season.
