“The car was feeling good,” Max Verstappen ‘extremely pleased’ with RB18’s initial pace at Spa

Max Verstappen after the Friday Practice sessions of the Belgium Grand Prix has indicated that he is pleased with how things went for him and the Red Bull F1 team on their first day back.
Max Verstappen came across a stiff challenge during the first practice session of Friday as he was not able to get the better of the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
The Dutchman, however, during FP2 was able to put in stellar laps that proved just too good for the rest of the competition. He ended his Friday exploits on the top of the timing sheets with a huge gap over the two Ferraris.
After Friday Practice, Verstappen was asked to give his thoughts on his outing and while dwelling over his FP2 session he said, “Not much has really changed, We just looked at how we can set up the car in the best possible way and I think as soon as we went out the car was feeling good.”
“There are little things you want to fine-tune with the balance but basically the first run I was happy with the car.“
The 24-year-old has stated that the team did minor setup changes on the car after FP1 that helped the get the extra performance out of the RB18.
Max Verstappen is starting the Belgium Grand Prix from the back of the grid
Max Verstappen has taken a new power source for the upcoming Sunday’s race and this has pushed him to the very back of the grid. Moreover, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has also done the same and is going to start alongside the Dutchman.
The two Championship leaders are starting from the back end of the grid and this is going to lead to a jumbled-up grid for Belgian Grand Prix. Both Max and Charles have got the pace to make their way through the pack and it going to be a fascinating watch to see who among the two prolific drivers would be able to get the better of the other going into Turn1.
However, there is an added potential penalty looming over the head of Verstappen as he is under investigation for a possible foul committed when he drove away from the test start and ran into Esteban Ocon.
The conditions were moist during Friday Practice and, considering that the race is taking place at the Spa-Francorchamps, wet weather can be expected for Sunday and if it certainly is the case, then extra spice is going to get added to the already exciting Belgian Grand Prix.
