Max Verstappen won his second title on the wet track in Suzuka. The race didn’t go all through but 28 laps were still worth defining the talent the 25-year-old possesses. Max won the race by 27 seconds and ultimately won the title after the mistake of his so-called title rival Charles Leclerc. Though the race happened it wasn’t as smooth as everyone would have loved it to be.

After a delay in Singapore, all the fans had was another mid-race delay in Japan as well. As the race began in wet conditions, the first lap camp out to be every event full and ended up with red flags. This for the most part triggered the fans as the wet tyres didn’t quite much as the name suggests. As the race started again, drivers rushed their way into the pits for the Intermediates. Inters around the park worked much better than the actually extreme wet tyres.

Max Verstappen had his say about the ‘useless’ tyres, which have been used after many races. “I don’t want to take a dig out of anyone, but I think we need better rain tyres. The extremes are just slow, and they can’t really carry a lot of water away. That’s why everyone always tries to switch very quickly to the Intermediate because it’s just so much faster over a lap,” said Max.

Charles Leclerc backs Max Verstappen’s verdict for the Wet Tyres

Charles Leclerc was supposed to target Max Verstappen in Japan after getting a wonderful start. He did cover a lot of distance to catch Max but ultimately failed due to his tyre wearing out. Wets as usual didn’t quite work for the Monegasque but neither did the inters. Leclerc opened up on his verdict about the showers caused by the cars without mudguards ultimately causing visibility problems.

Leclerc said, “I think a big problem of these cars is just the visibility. So whatever we can do to try and improve the visibility, and minimise the spray, especially behind the cars, this will be hugely beneficial because I believe that sometimes we can actually run for the conditions of the track.” explaining the spray problems.

He further elaborated that it’s very dangerous being behind these cars: “But just because of the visibility, because it’s so dangerous being behind and you don’t see anything that we don’t end up running at all,”

Max Verstappen managed to clinch his second title after almost getting denied by Charles till the very last lap. Though it was rather anti-climactic for Verstappen to win the title through a penalty, no one say he did not deserve it. And a championship win is a championship win.
