The Formula 1 has entered into its sixth round of the 2022 season as it sets up its tents at Barcelona. After a successful event in Miami, the sport heads into the Spanish GP to witness even more on track battles. Various teams on the grid are expected to feature new parts on their cars to assist them in their championship quest.

The new rules and regulations in Formula 1 have introduced a battle for car development between each team on the grid. At the Spanish GP, every constructor except Haas and Red Bull add new components to their modern Formula 1 cars. The Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen walked into the 2022 championship with the number 1 on his RB18 and an aim to defend his title. However, Red Bull has faced issues in form of reliability in their hunt of another title and no upgrades for the reigning world champion might set him on the back foot at Barcelona.

Max Verstappen terms the Red Bull car ‘Fat’ prior to the Spanish GP

The minimum weight of a Formula 1 car in the current season is 798kg. This is the mass of the car with the driver, fitted with dry-weather tyres, but without fuel. So far, each team except the Alfa Romeo has been struggling with reducing the weight of its 2022 car. Max Verstappen commented on RB18 by saying “Our car is a bit fat so just need to slim it down, that’s what we’re trying to do.”

The protagonists of the 2022 drivers world championship are Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. The Ferrari are expected to feature many new parts on the F1-75. Verstappen opined on the rival’s upgrades by saying “It will be interesting to see how much that will give them.”

The Dutch driver concluded by talking about Barcelona track. He said “You might run a bit closer, but still tough to overtake on this track. The goal is to not overtake and start at the front” Max Verstappen comes to Barcelona after grabbing the victory in the last two Grand Prix. He is a man on a mission in the current season and will hope to walk away with the maximum points from the weekend in Spain.
