Christian Horner, the Red Bull Team Principal, has recently talked about his team’s 2022 triumph and how it has not sat well with the rival teams on the grid.

Christian Horner and Co. managed the double this year, as they got their hands on the Drivers and the Constructors Championship with the help of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Moreover, in the process of doing so, they were utterly able to bash the competition as they racked up an impressive 17 Grand Prix wins in the season.

While stressing about the same, Horner added, “The higher you rise, the sharper the knives. We’ve experienced a bit of that this year. And the quickest way to become unpopular in this paddock is to win and win consistently,”

The Brit has made it known that his team’s success in 2022 has left a scar on its rival teams and does not see it as a huge surprise. In his opinion, as a team rises higher, the competitors are certainly not going to take it in good spirits.

The Red Bull F1 team was not the top dog in the sport during the turbo-hybrid era, it was dominated by Mercedes. However, the new regulations that came in at the start of this year’s campaign did the trick for the Milton-Keynes-based team.

Mercedes was nowhere near Red Bull, and Ferrari’s challenge ran out of gas by the mid-way point of the season. Horner feels, his team being an energy drink manufacturer and still getting the better of others, has not been seen in good light.

“We’re a subsidiary of an energy drink racing against OEMs and historic brands. And of course, that does not sit comfortably with some of our competitors.”

He further added, “When you win 17 Grands Prix and do what we’ve done, you can understand that it hurts our opponents and I’m sure they’ll be even more motivated to become a challenger next year.”

Christian Horner is adamant that his team will face stiffer competition than they faced this year, and considering everything, the 2023 season of the sport is going to be a fascinating watch for fans all over the World.
