“The opportunities will come,” Mick Schumacher unfazed following Carlos Sainz’s contract extension with Ferrari
Mick Schumacher
Mick Schumacher has always been linked to Ferrari ever since his move to F1. The two reasons behind this have been his father’s glorious history with the team and also because of the immense talent he possesses as a driver. But it seems like despite that, it’ll be next to impossible for the German to secure a spot in Ferrari’s driver lin-up. It’s a dream for any driver to drive for Scuderia Ferrari and Mick should is not any different.
But, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz doing incredibly well for the Italian team, it’ll be difficult for Mick Schumacher. Ferrari lead the constructor’s championship from Red Bull with both drivers firing on all cylinders. Charles Leclerc has been the pick of the two. The Monegasque driver already has three podiums and 2 wins to his name. He could have made it 4 podiums in 4 races had he not made that costly error.
Carlos Sainz hasn’t been as prolific as Charles Leclerc but there’s absolutely no reason for Ferrari to drop the driver and that’s exactly what they have done. The Spaniard already has 2 podiums in 4 races. This being the last year of his contract, there were speculations of him leaving the team. But, Ferrari has locked up the Spaniard for the next two years and this can very well go beyond that if he keeps performing.
Mick Schumacher unworried after Carlos Sainz’s extension with Ferrari until 2024
Mick Schumacher seems untroubled by the news and is confident that his time will come in the future. He believes that there will be ample of opportunities for him in the future if he stick to what’s required of him right now. He said, “I think in many ways it was expected.”
“Of course, Carlos did a mega job last year so he deserves it. For me, it doesn’t mean anything different than usual. I do my job here at Haas F1, do my best, and the opportunities will come,” as reported by gpblog.
Mick Schumacher is an incredibly young and talented driver. The German needs to stick with the task at hand. If he does that effectively, the chances for him to drive for one of the big boys will definitely go up.
