During the turbo hybrid era, Lewis Hamilton was the absolute man to beat in F1 and could dominate the competition left and right. He was at the peak of his powers back then and it was very much evident from how he secured the 2018 World Championship.
The Mexican Grand Prix was the 19th round of the 2018 F1 season where Lewis Hamilton needed a seventh or better place finish in order to secure the Championship and the Brit did precisely that by ending his exploits in P4.
Mercedes went into the race with the mindset of securing the win, however, from the very start the team was perplexed as Hamilton was finding it extremely difficult to get any decent performance out of the car.
The livery was not working the way Hamilton and Co. expected at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodgriguez Circuit but despite this fact, the Brit was able to secure the Championship by doing a calm and calculated race.
Lewis Hamilton faced extreme tire wear during the Mexican GP and was also dealing with vibrations in his car, the task was a steep one for him during the event, but despite all the odds, he did not succumb to the pressure and finished his exploits in P4 that proved enough to secure the 2018 title in Mexico.
Lewis Hamilton looking to win the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix
The 2022 Mexican Grand Prix is just a few days away and Lewis Hamilton has been improving race after race since the start of the second leg of the season.
Moreover, the 37-year-old came extremely close to winning the recently concluded United States Grand Prix where he was able to extract the maximum performance out of the W13.
The former seven-time F1 World Champion is on an upward trajectory at the moment and with only three races remaining in the current campaign, he has got his eyes well set on a Grand Prix win.
The Brackley-based Mercedes team brought its final upgrade of the campaign at the COTA Circuit where it worked well for Hamilton during all three days of the United States GP.
Considering that Lewis Hamilton was extremely close to winning his first race of the 2022 campaign at Austin, he and the team is going to everything in their power to get the first W of the season at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit.
