“There is a lot of secrecy and ego,” Fernando Alonso gives insights into modern-day relationships among F1 drivers
Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso at the age of 41 has signed a multi-year contract with Aston Martin and has recently shed light on his new deal and also on the kind of relationships that F1 drivers share among themselves.
Fernando Alonso’s switch to Aston Martin raised quite a few eyebrows at the start but the Spaniard is confident about his decision and hopes that everything will go according to plan with the Silverstone-based F1 team.
Aston Martin is struggling in 9th position in the Constructors Championship this season and when Alonso came up with his announcement, it left quite a few pundits of the sport stumped.
Moreover, Alonso while talking about his move said, “The contract for two more years with another team [Aston Martin] is innovative. I hope it works out well.”
The 41-year-old has committed his future to the Aston Martin team and it is believed that one of the reasons behind Alonso’s switch was the ambitions that the Lawrence-Stroll-owned team shared with him.
The team has high aspirations for the coming years and it will be exciting to see the former two-time World champion making moves in a green livery next season.

Fernando Alonso reveals there are no normal conversations between drivers in F1
Fernando Alonso made a return to F1 at the age of 39 and has stated that no one in his current team dares to call him old. While stressing over the situation, Alonso said, “They don’t dare. They think about it, but nobody says anything.“
The Spaniard has also talked about the relationship between Formula One drivers and has said, “We don’t have the friendship we see in other sports, like cycling and MotoGP. In F1, there is a lot of distance between all the drivers. There is a lot of secrecy and ego. There are no normal conversations or scenarios for bullying, like calling me an old man to my face.“
Fernando Alonso has given an interesting insight into the modern-day Formula One World and if one goes by what the Spaniard has shared, it can be assumed that in F1 there are a lot of mental battles that take place between the drivers and no one is willing enough to share things with each other.
The sport over the years has changed considerably and the way the F1 is growing, how do you see driver relationships in the coming years of the sport?
