“There is a lot of unrest,” Guenther Steiner emotionally complains about ‘division from outside’ amid growing criticism of Mick Schumacher
Guenther Steiner with Mick Schumacher
Guenther Steiner has always backed Mick Schumacher to get the job done but as the pressure grows on him, the team Principal would want his prodigy to produce the results. The Azerbaijan Qualifying saw both the Haas drivers not able to get into Q2 with Mick Schumacher finishing rock bottom. Kevin Magnussen, early on in the season, showed us that Haas can battle it out against other midfield teams.
But, the recent run of form has been disappointing to say the least. Mick Schumacher has added on to the pressure with his two huge crashes in Saudi Arabia and Monaco. This has costed Guenther Steiner and Haas more than 3 million dollars, making them go over the allocated budget for repairs. This has just rubbed salt on to the wound as it will restrict them to bring in upgrades as we are just 7 races into the season.
All the teams are working under a budget cap set by the FIA this season. The governing body allocated a total of $140 million initially but added $1.2 million to the limit later on. Therefore it’s not possible for teams to spend heavily on development mid season. Therefore, the pressure is mounting on Mick Schumacher to up his game if he wants to retain his seat in highly competitive sport at the end of the season.
Guenther Steiner confirmed that pressure is mounting on him as Mick Schumacher continues to struggle
Guenther Steiner has confirmed that he’s facing a lot of pressure from the outside as Mick Schumacher continues to struggle. An emotional Guenther said, “The camp is being divided. The division of the team from the outside is not good for Mick. There is a lot of unrest from outside.”
“It’s almost chalked up to us that we’re to blame for everything. I don’t think we’re that. We want Mick to be successful. I don’t think the fronts are hardened.”
“We’re a team. I need Mick, Mick needs us, together we can be strong. If we don’t work together, we can’t do it. we need success. We have to see that we get points.”
Mick Schumacher is racing against time for his future in F1. The situation is continuously becoming more critical with every passing race. Therefore, Mick will have to up his game or Guenther will be left with no other option than to drop the axe on him.
