George Russell
George Russell after having a splendid qualifying session has put his W13 in P2 for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix and indicated that Mercedes can challenge Charles Leclerc during the race.
George Russell has further stressed that, in his opinion, it is going to be almost impossible for him to keep the high-flying Max Verstappen behind him who has got a 5-place grid penalty.
However, the Brit is in high spirits considering that he is starting ahead of Lando Norris and Alpine’s Fernando Alonso. He believes that if Mercedes is to have a good race at Monza, then it needs to focus on itself rather than seeing what the other teams are up to.
While talking about the same Russell said, “We have seen probably last probably last weekend and in Budapest that when we are trying to fight cars that are faster than us, we compromise our overall result.”

George Russell feels that Max Verstappen will make his way up the grid easily during the Italian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen has been in supreme form this season and has won races for fun, moreover, the package that Red Bull has produced complements the driving style of the Dutchman beautifully.
The Milton-Keynes-based team has got a lethal combination in Max and the RB18, and Russell is well aware of this fact and has thus ruled his team out of being able to challenge Red Bull during the upcoming race.
However, the 23-year-old does believe that his team has got a great chance of fighting with Charles Leclerc who is starting the Italian GP from pole position.
While talking about his chances against Leclerc, Russell said, “I think we could fight with Charles, but fighting with Max is no chance they are quicker than us. He [Verstappen] will probably be in the lead after 15 laps. It’s not as easy to overtake here as in Spa but with the pace, they’ve got they will slice through the field.”
George Russell has got his eyes set on getting the better of Charles Leclerc during the Italian Grand Prix and considering that it is Ferrari’s home GP, the upcoming spectacle is going to be a must-see event for F1 enthusiasts all over the world.
