“There was something to gain,” Max Verstappen extremely frustrated following his engine problems during Qualifying
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen took up strongly on Saturday and looked promising for the pole position. He lead the Q2 session and was almost on a similar pace as the Ferraris. But things didn’t go his way in Q3 after he suffered engine problems that lead him to only manage a disappointing P10.
Max looked for a pole in the circuit that was assumed to be a Ferrari preferably track so being disappointed would be natural. Charles Leclerc starting on a decent P3 is much more concerning for the championship leader at the moment.
Max had braking problems in the first run for Q3 then he had engine problems that ultimately stopped him to get a lap time. Even though he managed a 1:18:823 he did get into the 17s on his early laps. Max expressed his frustration and also mentioned having s good pace to compete with the rivals.
Verstappen hasn’t been on his top game with Qualifying this season but he looked upon increasing his stats if not for his engine failure.
“There was just no power when I drove out of the pits. I haven’t been to the team yet to see what it was. It’s extremely frustrating because it looked like there was something to gain,” said Max Verstappen.
“I think so. Especially after Q2 when it looked like the speed was good; then it’s possible,” Max expressed his disappointment.
Max Verstappen concerned about the main race
Max is starting P10 which dissatisfied him, but Sergio Perez is right behind him starting P11. With both the Red Bulls far behind the Ferraris. This concerns the driver from a better chance for his rivals to cut the gap between them.
“I hope we don’t lose too much time at the start compared to the guys we are fighting with,” said Max Verstappen.
George Russell starts on pole with both the Ferraris following. The Italian team is way behind in the championship but having s perfect tomorrow could still get their hopes to stay in the championship.
