“There’s no time for sympathy,” Christian Horner unconcerned about Mercedes’ struggles

Mercedes and Red Bull shared a very bitter rivalry in the 2021 season, with both the teams and championship contenders, Max Verstappen & Lewis Hamilton battling out in almost all races, sometimes making contact, taking each other out in races.
All of it came to an end in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, final race of the year, where their points were tied, making it a historical race, and a historical win for the Dutchman that saw him win the World Championship for the first time ever.
Mercedes have dominated the hybrid era, winning every single constructor’s championship, and their drivers winning all the championships, except for the one in 2021. However, the team has had a particularly rough start to the year.

After the change in regulations this year, Mercedes have been struggling to make it to the top of the grid, and even though George Russell has scored 2 podiums until now, the team still is struggling a lot, mainly with the porpoising issue.
The issue seemed to be taken care of in the Spanish Grand Prix, but the sessions in Monaco saw the team struggling again.
Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull stated that he has no sympathy for Mercedes now.

“It’s about focussing on your own issues,” Horner breaks the ice

According to the Briton, it is not a time to express sympathy, but a time for teams to focus on their own issues.
The two team principals are much more calm now compared to the previous season, because Mercedes just haven’t been performing good enough to challenge any of the Red Bulls. Still, George Russell did manage to have some battle with Sergio Perez during the Spanish Grand Prix last week.
“We are still at the very early stages of the championship,” Horner stated, as quoted by PlanetF1.
“I’m sure it will get more tense as the season progresses, but there’s a greater respect between the two teams than perhaps with Mercedes last season,” the Briton said about the rivalry between Red Bull and Ferrari.
Red Bull had an exceptional performance during the Spanish Grand Prix that saw them take the lead over the constructor’s championship from Ferrari, however, post qualifying in Monaco, both the Ferraris look much more suited than the Red Bulls.
