“They really want Red Bull to be World Champion,” Ralf Schumacher blasts Ferrari’s strategy

Ferrari came away with the victory in Austria with Charles Leclerc whereas Carlos Sainz was not able to finish. Ralf Schumacher the former motorsports driver has recently questioned the decision-making at the Maranello-base team as he feels they are finding it difficult to put all their money on one driver.

In Austria during the Sprint race, Max Verstappen was able to develop a commanding lead over the two Ferraris and it was because of the fight that Leclerc and Sainz got into during the race. While the duo was busy fighting each other, the Dutchman was able to disappear into the distance.

Schumacher while talking about the Prancing horse said, “Ferrari, your B-team or C-team, keep helping you, then it’s good. You get the impression that they really want Red Bull to be world champion.”

The German has found it difficult to get to grips with the decision-making at the team as, during the Silverstone Grand Prix, Sainz was put on a better strategy while Leclerc was asked to fight it out on older tires and feels that the team only wanted Leclerc to win in Austria.

Given the state of the Drivers Championship where Leclerc is second with 170 points to his name, Schumacher believes the Italian team now wants to push Leclerc.

“They probably want to push Leclerc again now, but both drivers don’t agree. I think you can see that. They were very hard on each other. Maybe Leclerc could pull away a bit or Sainz was called back, I don’t know”

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at the start of the season made it clear that they both want to win the Championship and the way things are going at the team, Schumacher feels Mattia Binotto needs to make a decision.

There is no longer an agreement. At the moment the two wouldn’t go on holiday together either. They don’t really look at each other either. You do notice that.”

Things are no longer easy going at the Italian team and now with a two weeks break till the next race, Binotto and Co. have got ample time to decide what they need to do with their two drivers.

At Paul Ricard, it will be interesting to see how the team will handle its two drivers especially if they start the race in close quarters of each other.
