Mercedes have been one of the most dominating teams in the history of F1 in the hybrid era, winning every single constructor’s and driver’s championships (except for 2021) since 2014 till now proves that. The team had the vision of legends Michael Schumacher and Niki Lauda which helped them get the power which they have. Despite all the domination, with the regulation changes this year, Mercedes have surprisingly failed to adapt with the new aerodynamics. The team is having a hard time to cope with Red Bull and Ferrari, who are the two contenders for the championships as of now.

Budget cap making it hard for the team, Elliot reveals
He states that the budget cap has been causing a lot of troubles in upgrading the cars. “There’s a budget cap that’s quite constraining and as a consequence of that, you have to make good decisions about both what we do for the rest of this year but also what we do for next year,” GPBlog quoted Elliot’s statement. Many other teams and team principals have protested against the budget cap, which includes Christian Horner of Red Bull, as he famously said that around 7 teams won’t be able to make it to the final race with this budget.
Elliot also stated that both Red Bull and Ferrari have had a great start to the season, and the pace of their development is making it hard for Mercedes to cope up, and he states that it’s not going to be easy to fight them. George Russell, until now, has managed to finish top 5 in all of the races of the season, meanwhile Lewis Hamilton has been struggling to cope up with his teammate.
Mercedes stand 3rd in the championship with 134 points.
