Max Verstappen won the 2022 Emilia Romagna GP in a comfortable fashion by displaying great control of his car. After starting in pole position, the Dutchman won his second race of the season. Verstappen also won the sprint race and set the fastest lap, scoring 34 points this weekend and moving into second place in the 2022 Drivers Championship.

His teammate Sergio Perez finished P2 making it a Red Bull One-Two along with a grand slam victory for the Dutchman. McLaren’s Lando Norris claimed the third spot on the podium after Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc lost control of his F1-75 over the kerbs. The Monagesqe who started the race P2 only managed to finish P6 after a costly error.

Max hailed his team’s perfect setup for the weekend despite the tricky conditions. He feels they were prepared for the race and deserve the 1-2 finish in Imola.

Max Verstappen claims a Grand Slam victory in Imola

Max Verstappen put a dominant display in the Imola GP. The 2021 World Champion who suffered a rough start to the season, reminded his fans and critics about his talents by claiming the pole position, Sprint race win, P1 finish in the main race after leading every lap of it and the fastest lap of the race.

Verstappen said, “Already yesterday and the day before, we were on it and it was looking like a strong weekend. As a team, we did everything well, and this 1-2 is well deserved. The start was important but also judging conditions when to swap to the slicks. Everything was well managed.”

Ferrari had a disastrous weekend in the wet conditions in Imola. Carlos Sainz retired in the first lap of the race following a collision with McLaren of Daniel Ricciardo in the first lap of the race. Charles Leclerc too lost points after his error. This puts Red Bull in a close 2nd position on the constructor’s table after with 113 points, 9 behind Ferrari.
