Lewis Hamilton after witnessing an edge-of-the-seat boxing match between Oleksander Usyk and Anthony Joshua has taken no time in congratulating the Ukrainian on retaining his Unified World Heavyweight Championship.
Just like Lewis Hamilton, the whole world’s eyes were glued to the epic 12 rounds match between Usyk and Joshua and in the end, everyone got what they were looking to get from their insane title bout.
Hamilton after the culmination of the fight took to Instagram in order to congratulate Oleksander Usyk and wrote, “Such a great fight, this guy humble and a true Champ. Congrats.“
The 37-year-old who knows a thing or two about winning is well aware of how much determination and hard work goes into achieving big things and thus has been quick to show his respect for the Heavyweight Champion.
Usyk since his debut has remained undefeated in the World of Boxing, and with his second victory against Joshua, has silenced his doubters once and for all.
In every sport be it boxing or racing, critics are always there to bring people down, and Lewis who has been racing in F1 since 2007 recognizes this fact and has shown his appreciation for the efforts of the Ukrainian.
Lewis Hamilton won 7 World Championships in his F1 career
Lewis Hamilton during the turbo hybrid era was in the habit of dominating the competition left and right as, during 2014-2020, he was able to win an impressive six World Championships.
Moreover, was also able to play a key role in helping Mercedes win eight consecutive World Championships. The Brit has been a proven winner in F1 and because of this reason, has been able to relate with Oleksandr Usyk who in his own right is also a decorated boxer of his sport.
However, the 2022 F1 season has not panned out the way Hamilton was hoping for as, after 13 rounds, the Brit is sixth in the Driver Championship and is out of the title fight.
It is unfamiliar territory for him as till 2021, he was always up at the front end fighting for World Championships. However, Mercedes has made it known that they are targeting 2023 in order to get to the front, and considering that there are still 9 races left in the 2022 season, it will be exciting to see how Lewis Hamilton will perform in a car that has so far not been able to fight with Red Bull and Ferrari on a regular basis.
