“This is a personal choice,” Lewis Hamilton opens up about why he continues to wear a mask in the paddock

Lewis Hamilton definitely faced the brunt of coronavirus and that’s why he has decided to let his guard down despite the restrictions being relaxed. COVID-19 has affected the lives of millions of people across the globe. The calamity hit us in 2020, which led to lockdowns, work getting disrupted and a lot of people dying in the process. This pandemic shook the world of everyone.
The seven time world champion has also been no stranger to this deadly disease. He has already contracted the virus twice, due to once he had to miss one of the races. The Briton, having picked up the disease, had to opt out of the Bahrain GP, which meant that George Russell had to fill in the shoes so that Mercedes don’t take a hit in the constructor’s championship.
But, now the numbers have considerably come down with the injection of vaccines continuing at a rapid pace. This had led to F1 also taking it easy as far as the restrictions are concerned. But, Lewis Hamilton has decided that he doesn’t want to get ill at any cost and would want to continue wearing the mask irrespective of the restrictions.

Lewis Hamilton says that he will continue to wear the mask
He explained his decision saying, “No, this is a personal choice. “I just noticed a lot of people around me are getting sick and I definitely don’t want to get sick again. I’ve already experienced it twice.”
“A lot of my friends have messaged me that they have Covid and some are much worse than others.”
“Nobody’s wearing a mask so I’m definitely wearing mine. I urge people to do what they want to do – it’s your health at the end of the day but I want to go home healthy.”
“I want to be able to get up and train and do the things I love doing and I try, if I can, to keep the people I love around me safe when I can when I’m around them.”
Lewis Hamilton is definitely doing the right thing and all the other drivers need to take a leaf out of his book because there is a lot at stake.
