“This is a typical Ypres hazard,” Jos Verstappen explains the reason behind his crash on Saturday

Jos Verstappen

Jos Verstappen made his debut in WRC in the Rally2- class. He previously said that he enjoys the challenge. Jos got into a rally car for the first time this year after his actual rally debut in 2021 was cancelled. The Dutchman has competed in several small championships but this is a real world championship.

While Jos was busy going on and about his rally life, his son Max Verstappen said it was “crazy”. Max further went on to say that he has also developed an interest for rallying after watching his father. The Ypres Rally action runs for a total of four days, with a total of 20 stages involved, making it a mind bending test for the drivers and their machines. Makes you think if Jos took up more than he could chew.

Nothing special happened on that test. I steered in, I think just too late, so we hit the gravel with the outer wheels and became passengers. There was nothing we could do about it and we slid away, at low speed into a dry ditch. That was it and the day was over,” Jos Verstappen said.

This is a typical Ypres hazard, which also affected us. I still miss that experience,” said Verstappen, who hopes his team is able to repair the car quickly. That way he hopes to be able to participate in the rest of the weekend,” he continued.

It all depends on the time that it will take to further make repairs in order to know whether Jos Verstappen will race or not. If they get done on time, we’ll get to see Jos get back on track to compete in the Ypres rally.
