“This is the man y’all hate?” –Fans react as George Russell honor the Marshals involved in the 2022 British GP crash
George Russell invites British GP marshals for an exclusive Mercedes HQ tour.

During the previous year’s British GP, spectators witnessed a dreadful event involving Zhou Guanyu. Amid the collision, George Russell, who was also part of it, displayed remarkable courage by halting his car to assist his fellow driver, who was trapped between the barriers. With the assistance of Russell and the marshals, the driver was successfully rescued and emerged unharmed.
As a gesture of gratitude, George Russell extended an invitation to the same marshals for a special experience at Brackley. They were treated to a tour of the Mercedes operations center and had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with Russell, who was juggling between two racing weekends. A marshal via his Instagram penned a wholesome message for the young Mercedes driver.
George Russell may not have been liked by a lot of fans, especially those who support Lewis Hamilton. Although he didn’t do anything wrong, he might have upset fans or been misunderstood. But now, after his recent event at the Mercedes HQ, he may have changed how they see him.

Fans switch sides after George Russell’s heartwarming gesture
Unintentionally, Russell captured the hearts of Formula 1 fans with his recent actions. Despite his busy schedule, the driver’s heartfelt gesture was greatly appreciated and left a lasting impression. Twitter as usual erupted with praise for the 25-year-old after his action caught the eye of F1 fans.
Several Twitter users only had positive words for George. One user Tweeted, “he’s literally the sweetest driver on the grid.” While another echoed the same message, “Classiest guy on the grid.” A different user however had a different view calling Russell’s kind action a PR stunt. “PR merchant,” the user Tweeted.
One very observant user spotted the marshal sporting Lewis Hamilton merchandise. “Best part is his Lewis Jumper he’s sporting!” They Tweeted. Another user confessed their appreciation for the Mercedes driver. “Aw i hate to say this but george russel is really growing on me hah,” their Tweet read. A different user questioned why everyone hated Russell in the first place. “How anyone can dislike george, he is an ANGEL,” they said.
After a mediocre run at the Austrian Grand Prix which he finished in seventh place, the Brit sits P7 in the drivers’ standings. After dropping its zero-pod approach, Mercedes has recently shown an upturn in form. The Brackley team are currently P2 in the constructors’ standings ahead of Aston Martin and Ferrari.
