“This one didn’t get it wrong,” Toto Wolff rates the inaugural Miami GP a high 9 on 10

Toto Wolff
The first edition of the Miami GP was a hoot and a half. The hype in the United States was unreal as tonnes of celebrities flew in to see one of the most highlighted races of the season. And despite the race being a mediocre performance for the Silver Arrows, their boss approves of the way it was conducted and concluded.
Toto Wolff commented upon the various factors that he considers made the Miami GP a success. One of the reasons he list is the inability to cross the paddock as it was flooded with people. And another was the buzz that was created for F1.
Apart from these, Toto also appreciated the racing for the debutant track. According to GP Fans, he said, “We had a good DRS zone – we had two good DRS zones – and even the track breaking in turn 17, as an example, gave great racing. It was very difficult to brake into turn 17. If you lost the line, then you lost a position or two and it is clear that the drivers will say that is not optimum.”
Marking the race and absolute success even though Mercedes didn’t get the best of the results that they are habitual to, Toto Wolff rated it a 9 out of 10. He believes, “For racing and for entertainment, it was great stuff. All in all, I would say for a first [running], nine out of 10.”
How was the Miami GP for Mercedes?

Mercedes are still struggling with porpoising and the problems that come with it. However, they seemed to have made little progress towards the solution and certainly showed a good pace in Miami.
For the results, George Russell delivered yet another top 5 finish, making him the only driver to do so in every race of this season. After getting lucky with the safety car, he made a quick stop and later got ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
And for Lewis Hamilton, it wasn’t a pleasant experience. A failed pitstop strategy certainly didn’t contribute to the woes that he has been this season.
