Three drivers who could replace Fernando Alonso at Alpine?
Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso was the talk of the town during the summer break, after announcing that he has switched base to the Aston Martin Formula One team for the 2023 F1 season.
Since then, there has been massive speculation in the F1 paddock as to who could potentially fill the void that Fernando Alonso is going to leave at Alpine at the end of the current campaign.
A plethora of names have popped up in recent times linking them with a move to the French team, however, as things stand, there are three candidates who are heavily in contention to get the coveted seat on the Enstone-based F1 team for the next season of the sport.

Mick Schumacher
The first name on the list is that of Haas F1 driver, Mick Schumacher. As the 2022 F1 season has progressed, the young German has shown massive improvement, and it is believed that Alpine is keeping a close eye on his situation on the Haas team.
Moreover, the current Alpine driver, Esteban Ocon is a good friend of Mick Schumacher and has previously indicated that he would like to have him as his partner for 2023.
Pierre Gasly
While Mick is seen as someone who has got a big future ahead of him, there is another driver, who in recent times has caught the attention of everyone associated with the sport, and his name is Pierre Gasly.
The 26-year-old had his best F1 season during 2021 and was able to amass over 100 points in an AlphaTauri livery. Moreover, he was able to show how much has improved since his painful demotion from the Red Bull team. Today, the Frenchman is considered one of the best talents on the F1 grid, and Alpine is looking at him to have an all-French lineup for the 2023 season.
The only hindering block, however, is his relationship with Esteban Ocon. The two Frenchmen are believed to share a very hostile relationship between themselves since their junior karting days, and this could act as a major problem for the Alpine team in getting Gasly on board.
Daniel Ricciardo
The last name on the list is that of former eight-time grand Prix winner, Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian’s deal at McLaren is coming to an end at the end of the current campaign, and he is seen as someone, who the French team can seriously have a look at, considering he drove for them for two years before joining McLaren.
However, since his move to the Woking-based team, Ricciardo’s career has gone into a downward spiral and that has taken a massive hit on his pedigree as a racing driver in F1.
The 33-year-old has struggled massively against his teammate Lando Norris this season, and this can tempt Alpine to not see him as a potential candidate for the vacant Alpine seat.
There are quite a few other names as well that are swirling in the driving market, and considering that there are only 6 races left in the current campaign, it is going to be fascinating to see who the French team is ultimately going to take on board for 2023.
