Red Bull has developed yet another dominant chassis this year. Hence Max Verstappen and Milton Keynes are on the trajectory to dominate the season and win the championships. As a result, multiple people have showcased their disappointment with the lack of competition. Amidst this, Toto Wolff took a dig at Christian Horner’s old comments and shared his opinions as well.
Toto Wolff recalled Christian Horner‘s comments about Mercedes’ dominance back in 2015. When Horner had urged the FIA to bring in rule changes to slow down the Silver Arrows. Wolff asserted that he didn’t want to request regulation changes just because of the dominance. Additionally, the Austrian applauded Red Bull over the dominating performance put forth by the team.
I don't want to fall in the trap of a fellow team principal from next door in 2014/15 who said we should change the regs because it's too dominant, I think they [Red Bull] have done by far the best job of all the teams over the last two years, and credit where credit is due.Wolff said, as reported by autosport.com.
Subsequently, Wolff exclaimed that the Red Bull drivers were disappearing in the distance. The race leader Max Verstappen had a lead of over 40s from the trailing non-Red Bull driver. Apart from this, the team principal asserted that Milton Keynes was in their own league. Additionally, the best performance on the grid was just being rewarded from a car according to the 52-year-old.
I mean, they are literally disappearing in the distance as they want and there's nobody else close. It's just that they are in a different league. And our sport is an honest sport. The best performance is being rewarded from car, from machine and man.
Fred Vasseur claims Ferrari fully pushing to catch Red Bull
Apart from Wolff, Ferrari’s Fred Vasseur revealed his thoughts over Red Bull’s dominance. Vasseur highlighted that his focus was on the Italian team and developing the car down the season. Regardless of the team’s performance against Red Bull, the Frenchman mentioned that his goal would still be to perform better.
Honestly, I'm focused on the team, I'm focused on the fact we have to develop the car. And even if one weekend we're in front of Red Bull, I will keep this same approach and try to do a better job the week after.Vasseur said, as reported by autosport.com.
Additionally, Vasseur added that Ferrari would fully push against Red Bull and continue with the same approach. However, the 55-year-old was not hesitant in accepting Milton Keynes’ advantage over Maranello. Red Bull is currently in their own league and would likely score the championship for the 2024 season.
It's not because we are P1, P2, P3 that you have to stop or develop more. We are fully pushing and will continue with same approach. It's clear they still have an advantage on us, and we have to continue to develop and to push.
Hence, time will tell about how the rival teams cope with Red Bull’s dominance. Currently, as things are, the team will remain untouched throughout the season under Christian Horner’s leadership. Although Horner is set to be under FIA investigation soon. Milton Keynes is in their prime alongside the reigning world champion Max Verstappen.
