Mercedes are threatened by their rival, Red Bull. This does not come as a surprise. Red Bull has been way ahead of the other teams on the grid in terms of pace. Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team boss, has spoken about Red Bull’s strengths. He is aware that they are the strongest team at the moment.

Reports indicate that Red Bull’s RB19 is four-tenths quicker than Ferrari’s SF23 and six-tenths quicker than Mercedes’ W14. This puts the two teams at a disadvantage. In this case, Red Bull might not have any competition this season. They were already the season’s favorites even before the pre-season testing, thanks to their back-to-back championships.

On the final day of testing, Lewis Hamilton put in several fast laps but was topped by Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, who went three-tenths quicker. Though this does not define the team’s order for the season, it does not change the fact that the RB19 is quick. Toto Wolff stated, “They brake later, accelerate much earlier and gain an incredible amount of time with better traction. If we approach the corners like this, we don’t even get to the apex.”

Red Bull is running ten millimeters lower than everyone else

A Mercedes source revealed to Auto Motor und Sport that “Red Bull is ten millimetres lower than everyone else. If we drove that low, the underbody would break”. This has the other teams concerned. Lewis Hamilton is worried about their straight-line speed as it is. Although he is relieved about the bouncing issue, the seven-time world champion admitted, along with Toto Wolff, that they haven’t been able to match Red Bull.

During the pre-season testing, Red Bull had no issues, Mercedes, on the other hand, had a hydraulic issue, and the car stopped on track. The RB19 is the fastest car, as the team had an advantage last season. Unlike other teams, they did not have a porpoising issue. They only had to focus on their pace and set-up.

This is not all, the gap between RB and the others is set to increase, according to AMuS. Christian Horner had a comfortable year last season, unlike his rival Toto Wolff. The duo will go into the new season with new opportunities to fight. However, everything changes if Red Bull runs their car closer to the ground. The media credits Adrian Newey for his successful design. Formula One is in awe of the RB engineer and his creation.
