Valtteri Bottas, the Alfa Romeo star, has dabbled with series beyond Formula 1. He had contested in rallies, had a private test of the spec Extreme E car, and participated in Race of Champions earlier this year. His latest gig was driving a Bathurst 1000-winning Holden Supercar on the famous Adelaide street circuit as he was named as part of the Adelaide Motorsports Festival Ambassadors’ Club. It was a special occasion for the Finnish driver as he has close ties with Australia.

Along with Bottas, there are other noble names like the former F1 driver Stefan Johansson, Craig Lowndes, the Supercars legend, and other Supercars drivers like Todd Hazelwood, Tim Slade, and Thomas Randle. Australian racing icons Vern Schuppan and David Brabham, Kiwis Hayden Paddon, Andy Higgins, and Peter Xiberras, a Supercars team owner, are also a part of this Ambassadors’ Club.

Tim Possignham, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival event director, stated, “The event has received such a tremendous amount of positive feedback from everyone, but most importantly from those who are at the top of their game. The general feeling amongst this cohort is that they want to support and grow the event; they want to act as ambassadors for the event as we move forward. So we have formalised this group, and we plan to grow it over the years.”
