Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari Formula 1 driver, has finally ended his torrid run of form at the 2023 Austrian GP. Leclerc has managed a brilliant second-place finish for himself at the Red Bull ring, and at the end of the race, he’s been spotted running toward his younger brother, Arthur Leclerc, to celebrate his podium place.
Like Charles Leclerc, Arthur Leclerc is also an upcoming young racing driver and often supports his brother during Grand Prix weekends. The second-place finish at the Red Bull Ring holds great significance for Charles as he has managed a podium at the pinnacle of motor racing after several races.
The 25-year-old started his race from the extreme north end of the grid, and while he did not have the pace to become a nuisance for Max Verstappen, he could hold off a fast-charging Sergio Perez comfortably. The Mexican was on a fresh set of tires but ultimately lost out.
While Charles Leclerc ended his race in second place, his teammate, Carlos Sainz, missed out on the podium as Sergio Perez managed to get the better of him by the closing stages of the Austrian GP. With his second-place finish, Leclerc has scored 18 crucial points for himself and his team.
Charles Leclerc needs a consistent run of strong performances
The Austrian GP has proved very fruitful for Charles Leclerc, and going forwards; it will be crucial for him to maintain a consistent run of performances. He is adrift in the Drivers Championship and has a lot of catching up to do with the lights of Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, etc.
The SF-23 proved very strong at the Red Bull Ring, and it will be Ferrari’s responsibility to keep improving the car so that Leclerc and Co. could reduce the gap to the front runners in the Drivers and Constructors Championship. The Maranello-based team is currently fourth in the standings behind Aston Martin.
The ongoing campaign is 10 rounds down but considering the strong outing that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had in Austria, would they be able to put up a strong fight again at the British Grand Prix? The latter won that race last year, and several eyes would again be on the Ferrari duo at Silverstone.
