The 2023 season ended on a sombre note for Ferrari as Mercedes prevented the oldest and most successful team in F1 from getting the second spot on the World Constructors’ Championship Standings. As they got beaten to the P2 position by only 3 points, they had to settle for less prize money as well as the disappointment of the countless Tifosis who expected the duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to perform better. Still, Sainz’s outstanding performance at the Singapore GP turned out to be the highlight for the Maranello fans as he became the only non-Red Bull driver to win a Grand Prix in 2023.
But time is running out for Ferrari as their supporters as well as their sponsors are growing impatient too. The team has yet to win a World Constructors’ Championship since 2008 and none of their drivers have been able to get the World Drivers’ title since Kimi Raikkonen achieved it in 2007. At the end of the ’22 season, the team even had a change in their leadership with the resignation of Mattia Binotto and the appointment of Frederic Vasseur that gave hopes to many Tifosis. But even under Vasseur, Ferrari’s 2023 campaign turned out to be a disappointment once again.
Now, the team has promised that each of its members has targeted the 2024 F1 season for a Championship win. And for this, they are currently hard at work at Maranello for developing a racecar that can beat the challengers of Red Bull and Mercedes to seize victory. To test the F1 car that Ferrari have developed for the new year, Charles Leclerc finally appeared in Maranello after a long vacation and he even posed with some fans on the way. The pictures went viral on social media as everyone is assured that Charles is going to give all his efforts into helping Ferrari develop the perfect car.
Ex-Ferrari racer Felipe Massa has revealed why the team keeps getting defeated
Ferrari have appointed the créme de la créme of racers over the last few years in Formula 1. They took up Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc, and then Carlos Sainz to represent them at the Championship battle against their heavyweight rivals like Mercedes and Red Bull. Still, the team has not gotten a single Drivers’ Championship title victory since 2007. Felipe Massa addressed this problem and called Ferrari’s current pairing of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz as perfect. But then he pointed out the mistake Ferrari have made despite having ‘two very good drivers’.
It is clear that the problem in Maranello is definitely not the pilots Ferrari has two very good pilots who work well together. They just need a competitive car to show what level they can be in the title fight.Felipe Massa said, via La Gazetta dello Sport.
In some bits and pieces of rumors coming out of Maranello, it has been heard that Ferrari are making some radical changes to their 2024 challenger. There will be some key differences in the weights of their 2024 car as compared to the challengers of the previous seasons. Now, it only remains to be seen if all these changes can result in a Championship-worthy car or if the next season will only be an addition to a long line of disappointing campaigns for the Maranello outfit.
