The Dutch GP has provided fans with some of the most thrilling action this season. Drivers have had to make multiple pitstops to switch between intermediate and slick tires in the changeable conditions. The rain got heavier in the latter half of the race with challenging conditions for drivers. Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu failed to maintain control of his car and had to retire from the race.
The Chinese driver had a good start to the Dutch GP and was one of the first cars to pit. Subsequently, Zhou Guanyu even briefly raced in second place. Although, the Alfa Romeo was soon overtaken by drivers in faster cars including Max Verstappen. As the rain poured again, Zhou slid off and ended up into the barriers on Lap 65 of the race.
The Alfa Romeo crashed just before the red flag was called by race control. The rain had become dangerous with visibility being a key issue in such conditions. Zhou Guanyu’s race-ending incident further proved that it was difficult for drivers to keep racing. Before Zhou, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez had locked up and spun his RB-19 with the Mexican driver losing a position to Fernando Alonso.

The user commented, “Zhou’s greatest enemy is Turn 1.” While another fan questioned the skills of the Alfa Romeo driver after this incident. The fan stated, “Why is he even a driver?”
Thus, Zhou Guanyu missed out on a decent result at the Dutch GP. The Chinese driver had shown incredible pace in the early stages of the race after jumping half the field in the round of pitstops. Unfortunately, the Alfa Romeo driver failed to stay away from the barriers in wet conditions and crashed out just a few laps before the chequered flag.
