Eventually, Hamilton signed a two-year extension with the Brackley-based team. Albeit, the 39-year-old will use an exit clause to join Ferrari after just one year of his new contract. Nevertheless, Lewis Hamilton’s extension with Mercedes was one of the biggest talking points in Drive to Survive due to the seven-time world champion’s incredible legacy with the team.

Lewis Hamilton’s journey with Mercedes to end this year
Mercedes might have secured Lewis Hamilton with an extension last season. However, the British driver signed a massive $430 million contract with Maranello as part of a multi-year deal. Subsequently, the 39-year-old will leave the Silver Arrows after joining the team way back in 2013.
Lewis Hamilton’s exit came as a shock to Mercedes with the team currently scrambling for a good replacement. In the meanwhile, Toto Wolff has mentioned that George Russell will be the new team leader from next season. Moreover, Russell recently claimed that he was having driver names pop up on his phone as many wanted to replace Hamilton.
Certainly, Drive to Survive would delve deep into Hamilton’s last season at Mercedes this year. However, fans would need to wait till season seven to watch the same. Till then, fans would be looking forward to seeing how things pan out for Lewis Hamilton and the Silver Arrows in their final year together after a journey spanning over a decade.
