WATCH: Helmut Marko gets pushed away by ignorant cameraman while Max Verstappen makes his way to podium at British GP
Helmut Marko was mistreated at the British GP at the hands of an ignorant photographer who shoved him to get a clear view of Max Verstappen.
The British Grand Prix saw a brilliant pushback from Max Verstappen after initially losing the lead to Lando Norris at the start of the race. The McLarens showed brilliant pace at the historic circuit of Silverstone, but the Dutchman proved that Red Bull‘s dominance prevails above all. And as Max ended the race in the first position, he was making his way up to the podium to take the trophy for his sixth consecutive Grand Prix victory this year.
Red Bull Chief Advisor Helmut Marko wanted to meet the team’s golden boy as he was making the beeline for the stage where the prize distribution was being held. Unfortunately, the place was crowded with too many people, and an ignorant photographer pushed at 80-year-old Marko as he was trying to get the best shot of Max Verstappen. A video captured the incident as Helmut Marko seemed utterly displeased at being shoved by a photographer, and it went viral on the internet.
Helmut Marko has been instrumental in bringing Red Bull to where the team is today. With a goal to turn the late Dietrich Mateschitz’s visions for his team into a reality, Marko has toiled endlessly to bring the best people under one roof to build a formidable squad. The Austrian has previously said he even convinced Christian Horner to stay back at the Milton-Keynes outfit when he was being lured to Maranello by Ferrari. And as a man of his stature was pushed by the photographer, some fans were not happy with the incident.
Before Helmut Marko, it was the brother of F1 legend Michael Schumacher who got rudely shoved at Miami GP
The Formula One races often see a huge number of celebrities visit the paddocks, and many a times, it gets so crowded that some VIPs are subjected to mistreatment. Helmut Marko was shoved by a photographer at the recently-held British GP, but this was not the first incident of such kind this year. Earlier this season, Ralf Schumacher was present at the Miami Grand Prix as a former racer and he, too, was brutally pushed. But in his case, the F1 security personnel had apparently shoved him. The German later demanded an apology for the incident which never came.
Helmut Marko’s dealt a master move earlier today as he led the plan to oust Nyck deVries from AlphaTauri. This has been done because the Dutchman failed to gather good results in the first ten Grands Prix of his debut F1 season. In deVries’place, fans will witness the return of Daniel Ricciardo, the former McLaren racer who had been serving as a Red Bull reserve driver till now.
