Lando Norris has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in Formula 1. The British driver has spent multiple seasons with McLaren and delivered strong performances. However, the 23-year-old is yet to win a race at the pinnacle of motorsport. Now, Norris has revealed how he would retire from F1.
The McLaren driver recently appeared in a video for Sky Sports F1 alongside George Russell. Both Norris and Russell have now participated in 100 F1 races. Subsequently, the two joined forces to celebrate this milestone. However, Lando Norris decided to take a dig at himself for not having a single F1 victory under his belt.
The 23-year-old cited the example of Nico Rosberg. Rosberg bowed out of the sport after clinching the 2016 F1 world championship. Similarly, Norris reckoned that he would put away his racing gloves after he claimed his first victory at the pinnacle of motorsport. George Russell was amused by his fellow driver’s words and laughed with the McLaren driver. Moreover, Norris emphasized that a driver is remembered only for his last finish.
Rosberg retired after his first championship, I’m going to retire after my first win. Just win it and out… Only as good as your last race.
Lando Norris told Sky Sports F1

Lando Norris and McLaren get closer to Red Bull
McLaren had a disastrous start to the 2023 F1 season. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri had struggled to get out of Q1 for the first few rounds of the season. However, the Woking-based team has turned around its fortunes over the course of the year, putting the British team alongside the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari.
Norris and Piastri have bagged multiple podiums this year with the latter even taking an F1 Sprint victory in Qatar. Although, Lando Norris is yet to stand on the top step of the podium in F1. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old has delivered consistent results including a P2 finish at the US GP last weekend after the disqualification of Lewis Hamilton.
Certainly, Lando Norris is one of the strongest drivers on the current grid. The Briton has helped McLaren’s efforts to become a front-runner once again in F1. However, the 23-year-old is yet to receive a car that would be capable of fighting for the race win on pure merit. Till then, Norris would be looking to end 2023 on a high note with some solid results in the final rounds of the season.
