Max Verstappen has been flying with Red Bull season as they continue to dominate both the drivers’ and constructors’ standings. The Ferrari Garage narrates a contradictory tale, as the team struggles with poor results and inconsistency due to a combination of mistakes on track, poor engineering, and strategic errors.
Max Verstappen, as a professional racer, also enjoys streaming as a hobby. During a recent sim racing stream, Verstappen and his fellow racers playfully made a lighthearted joke aimed at Ferrari, particularly targeting Charles Leclerc’s race engineer, Xavier Marcos Padros. They amusingly imitated Ferrari’s radio messages, including mimicking Xavi’s accent.
This moment entertained viewers and showcased Verstappen’s playful side during his streaming sessions. The Dutchman and his team mimicked the confusion that commonly transpires over Ferrari’s team radios by asking for tires, as well as correcting the team’s strategy plan after earlier announcing the wrong one.
Ferrari finally found a good result in Canada after a string of disappointments and will seek to build on it as they approach the impending double header involving Austria and Silverstone. They have fallen quite far behind Mercedes and Aston Martin and will look to close the gap as soon as possible.

Max Verstappen has previously mocked Ferrari’s strategic blunders
Recently, Ferrari has encountered significant criticism primarily from strategic mistakes made during races. These mishaps resulted in a decline in performance, causing them to lose their position as table leaders to Red Bull last year. Furthermore, Mercedes challenged Ferrari for second place in the standings towards the end of the 2022 season, largely due to the team’s strategic errors. These shortcomings in race strategy have been a subject of scrutiny and have impacted Ferrari’s overall competitiveness in F1.
On the ‘Max Verstappen, Anatomy Of A Champion’ documentary, when checking the forecast on his phone days before the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix, Verstappen said, “Rain Friday, Saturday.” When asked if he thought it was better for a wet race, he said, “More chaos. But in the dry, Ferrari has more options to f*ck up the strategies.”
The Spanish GP saw a prime example of Ferrari’s lack of harmony. Despite starting the race on hard tires, Charles Leclerc struggled to make significant progress through the field, which is usually expected from a top team in F1. Consequently, Leclerc made an early pit stop. However, a perplexing situation arose later in the race when Leclerc requested another set of softs, but his race engineer, Xavier Marcos Padros, seemingly disregarded the request.
This decision left many observers puzzled, as it appeared that Leclerc’s desired strategy was not aligned with the team’s desired strategy. They put him on hard tires anyway. This only adds to the perception of strategic blunders within Ferrari. This incident further amplifies the concerns regarding Ferrari’s decision-making and strategic performance, especially after a challenging year in the previous season when they were vying for the championship.
